The Samuel Foundation offers full scholarships for a technical education in Fashion Design and Management including job placement assistance. The Foundation has been globally operating in the field of technical education for more than 30 years. In India, the foundation already supported 29 generations of students on their way to graduation. Its success rate in placing graduates into long-term employment is more than 95%.

We are offering the technical education at two centres in Delhi, in Uttam Nagar and Garhi.

Fashion Design and Management

For many years, the textile sector in India has been one of the largest job-creating sectors - 45 million people are employed in this field. The Delhi metropolitan region is one of the country's important textile centres; here the demand for skilled labour is uninterrupted.

Programme content: The programme is specifically tailored to the requirements of the Indian textile industry - students are trained in the most diverse aspects of fashion design and management. In addition to the topic of design per se, the programme encompasses subjects such as sewing and manufacturing of clothes, merchandising, production, and quality control. Students thus receive all the technical skills they need for the entire textile production chain. Moreover, the curriculum includes computer skills, personality training including lessons on job application, communication and English. Classes take place on a bilingual basis, in Hindi and English.
Employment opportunities: Entry-level opportunities as an assistant in the areas of production, quality control, merchandising or sampling in textile production companies, fashion houses, trading/export companies or boutiques.
Duration of the programme: 15 months on a full-time basis incl. a three-month company apprenticeship
Number of scholarships to be awarded each year: 108
Certificate: Graduates receive a foundation diploma in Fashion Design and Management

OUR OFFER

Full scholarship for a high-quality technical education with special emphasis on practical work, including a 3-month company apprenticeship
Duration of the full-time technical education: 15 months starting 1st August until October 31st of the following year (class schedule: 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, a number of Saturdays reserved for market visits and other activities.
Computer classes, English communication, life skills (personality development and social work activities, e.g.) and employability skills
Trade-related monthly visits
Provision of trade consumables, training books and stationery
Subsidies for public transport
Free nutritional food supplements and medical check-ups
Job placement assistance thanks to an extensive network of cooperating companies
Extracurricular activities

YOUR PREREQUISITES

You are from an economically weak background.
You are between 17 and 25 years of age.
Your educational level is minimum Xth pass.

Note: The Foundation reserves the right to decline acceptance to any student based on internal criteria.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A FULL SCHOLARSHIP

The application period for the programme is from March to end of May of every year.
Application form must be picked up and submitted with all necessary documents at one of our Centres for Technical Education before the end of the application period.
The procedure for admission includes tests, interviews and visits.
Incomplete application forms or documents are not accepted.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will I have to pay any fees for this course?

The Samuel Foundation grants full scholarships to its students so that the training is free of tuition cost. Furthermore, the Foundation provides:

All major consumables, training books and stationery free of charge
Subsidies for public transport
Free daily nutritional food and medicinal supplements
Free medical check-ups

However, there are some costs involved which are as follows:

Security deposit: INR 7500 (refundable after completion of course - with applicable deductions)
Half of the uniform costs to be borne by the students. The amount will be deducted from the security deposit and does not require a separate payment.
Material related to final garment project - also deductable from the security deposit.

What is the selection and admission procedure like? Are there any entry exams?

You are required to fill out and submit our application form including all necessary documentation. We do not accept incomplete documentation.
All applicants will have to pass the following admission exams
- written and practical test
- psychological test
Personal interview of both, applicants and parents/guardian
Home visit by staff of the Foundation in order to check the economic eligibility of the applicants

Which documents do I have to submit with my application?

Three passport size photographs
X mark sheets and mark sheet of last passed examination
Copy of Aadhar Card

All submitted documents become property of the Foundation.

How will I know whether I passed the entry exams?

All applicants should enquire at the office on the designated day. The applicants who have passed the examination are informed about the interview schedule. A final list of the selected candidates will be published in July. The selected students will be notified about their admission date and explained the formalities for the admission.

Do I qualify for a scholarship, if I am younger than 17 or older than 25?

Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions to this prerequisite. The age limit ensures the success of the students by adjusting to our strict curriculum and requirements. It ensures a smooth professional development of the candidate in the industrial setting.

Does the Foundation offer any part-time or evening courses?

No, we do not offer any part-time, week-end or evening courses at present.

Pick up the scholarship application form and submit it with your complete documentation at one of our Centres for Technical Education in Garhi or Uttam Nagar.

Admission test: 23th June, 2024
Interviews: 1st to 6th July, 2024
Final results: 9th July, 2024

Start of technical education: 1st August, 2024
