Mission Statement of the Hedwig and Robert Samuel Foundation
The Düsseldorf based Hedwig and Robert Samuel Foundation is a non-profit organisation under civil law. The mission of the Foundation is to help those in need, and through the support of the Samuel Foundation such people are given the chance to improve their standards of living in a sustainable manner.
Principles
Through its lean organisational structure, the Samuel Foundation is able to offer help and react quickly and flexibly to the changing requirements in a targeted and non-bureaucratic way.
• Fighting poverty through direct help to the individual
The overriding objective of the Foundation’s work is to provide help for socially deprived people in the most sustainable way. Such help can be in the form of a one-off assignment as well as long-term project support. The projects carried out by the Foundation focus upon strengthening individual skills and opening up new environments and opportunities for the people in question. Through this, the people shall be enabled to become independent and lead a self-determined life.
• Aligning the support to long-term, sustainable and functional projects
It is a matter of particular concern for the Samuel Foundation to provide people with a solid foundation with its project work, and enable them, in the long term, to improve their standards of living, which in turn will result in providing a positive outlook for future generations.
• Involving local workforce in project planning and implementation
It is living practice of the Foundation to carry out project work with the local workforce. By adopting this way of work, it can be guaranteed that from the initial phase of project planning the support will reach its destination and will be used in the best possible way.
