FAQs on online donations

How much of my donation will actually reach its destination?

With the Samuel Foundation, you can rest assured that your donation will reach the relief project at the respective location in their full amount and thus let the people in need benefit from it. The administration costs, which are low in any case, are fully covered through the proceeds of the Foundation's assets.

How secure is making an online donation?

For the Samuel Foundation, the security of your data is given the highest priority – unauthorised access to your data is impossible. For the purpose of online donations, we use the services of the 'Bank für Sozialwirtschaft' (Bank for Social Economy), which is based in Cologne, Germany. At all times, the bank guarantees a high level of security for your online donation. All of the data you enter on the donation form is transmitted to the bank via an encryption (256 bits).

Please note that payment with credit card will be credited to our account only 45 days after the donation date and that we can only then acknowledge receipt. In the case of end-of-year receipts, we will issue a collective receipt in February of the following year.

What happens to my personal data once a donation has been executed?

Personal data includes information such as the donator's name, postal address, email address or telephone number. Such information will be handled as strictly confidential. Personal data will only be saved for the purpose of executing the transaction and creating donation receipts. Personal information pertaining to the client will be neither forwarded nor sold to third parties.

Do I have to specify a particular purpose for my donation?

By specifying the particular purpose of your donation, you can rest assured that the money will be directed to the specific project in question. The Samuel Foundation is obliged to use the money exclusively for the specified purpose of the donation.

Not specifying a purpose means that you entrust the Samuel Foundation to decide where the money should be utilised within the scope of the Foundation’s work. Through this, you make the allocation of the donation more flexible, which means the Foundation can direct the donation to where it is urgently needed.

Is my donation to the Samuel Foundation tax deductible?

This depends upon the country in which you live. In Germany, as well as a number of other countries where we carry out projects, we are entitled to issue receipts for donations, which can be used in your tax declaration for tax deductions. For further information, please contact us at info@samuel.de.
